Does your piano need more than the occasional tuning? Maybe it needs to be repaired, or perhaps it’s in serious need for Richmond Piano Restoration!
When a piano has been neglected for a long time, or if it has been sitting in a less than ideal space, it may need a whole lot more than tuning or even simple repairs. Of course most piano lovers wouldn’t dream of neglecting their pianos, but bad things can happen to good pianos.
In some cases, a piano has been inherited from a relative who wasn’t actually playing it. Maybe the love for playing the piano skipped a generation or two.
In other cases, you got a great bargain on a piano you found on Craigslist or another place – but it needs lots of fixing to put it back in working condition.
Richmond Piano Restoration – When Is It Needed?
You may be wondering when piano restoration is a good idea. As you might suspect, piano restoration is quite a major investment. Basically, a piano needs to be taken apart and then rebuilt from the ground up.
It’s a time intensive and costly proposition, especially since it may also need restringing, another very costly process. Clearly, you wouldn’t do this for just any piano. But…
If it’s a valuable heirloom piano, then it might be worth the investment in time and money. The way to find out is to as an expert in piano restoration for advice. And at Southern Piano Service, I am always happy to help when it comes to evaluating your piano.
I love old pianos, but I’ll also let you know when it’s not a good idea to make such a big investment. On the other hand, if you have an original “name” piano, a Steinway for example, then you may want to consider investing in getting it restored.
Also, consider the shape your piano is in. If it needs major repair, then a major piano restoration project may be called for.
Piano Restoration – How To Decide
The first step should be to have your Richmond Piano Tuner check it out. That would be me, Blanton Bendall! I’ll be happy to take a look and evaluate your piano, what it needs to get back into peak playing condition, and whether it’s worth restoring it.
Consider its value, both monetary and sentimental. If it’s the piano you used to play as a child when you visited your grandparents, having that piano restored may mean a lot to you. Or not. You’re the judge.
